The seventh international investment project fair REXPO 2018, which opened in Zagreb on Tuesday, has brought together many Croatian and foreign exhibitors who are to discuss cooperation and interest in public and private investment projects in Croatia and the rest of the region.

The fair, attended by investors from China, India, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, and Italy, was opened by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic and Construction Minister Predrag Stromar.

Butkovic said that over the past year his ministry had launched a large investment cycle, worth approximately HRK 20 billion, of which HRK 14 billion are grants from EU funds and HRK 6 million are loans.

He described the Peljesac Bridge as the project of all projects, saying that work had already began and that a decision on the selection of contractors for the second phase of the project was pending.

Croatian road operator Hrvatske Ceste and the Chinese consortium China Road and Bridge Corporation on April 23 signed a HRK 2.08 billion contract for the construction of Peljesac Bridge and access roads.

The EC adopted a decision on 7 June 2017 to grant 357 million euros from Cohesion Policy funds, that is 85% of the cost of building the bridge which would connect Dubrovnik-Neretva County with the rest of the country. Peljesac Bridge will be built by the Chinese consortium which offered HRK 2.08 billion, excluding VAT. The deadline for the completion of the project is 36 months.

He also emphasised investments in the rail infrastructure and ports connecting mainland with islands.
